Game Overview

Mountain Ladder Ball is a classic throwing game where players take turns tossing bolas toward a three-rung ladder target. Score points by wrapping your bolas around the rungs, and be the first player or team to reach exactly 21 points.

What You'll Need

  • Two ladder targets
  • Six bolas (3 per team)
  • Two players or two teams
  • Open playing area

How to Set Up Mountain Ladder Ball

  • Place the ladder targets 15 feet apart, measured from the front of each ladder.
  • Younger players or beginners can move the ladders closer.
  • Decide who throws first with a coin flip or friendly challenge.
  • Stand behind the throwing line before each throw.
  • Each team uses three bolas of the same color.

How to Play

  1. Players alternate tossing one bola at a time.
  2. Each player throws all three bolas during their turn.
  3. Once both players have thrown, score the round.
  4. Remove all bolas and begin the next round from the opposite side.
  5. Continue until one player reaches exactly 21 points.
