The Rules
The objective of Social Scatter is to be the first player or team to score exactly 50 points.
-
Starting the Game
- Flip a coin — the winner throws first.
- Players may throw the dowel using any underhand technique, including rolling, helicopter style, or end-over-end.
-
Taking Turns
- Players alternate throws.
- After each full round, players tally their score for that turn.
- If a player goes three consecutive turns without knocking down any skittles, that player is eliminated.
-
Resetting Skittles
- After each throw, any knocked-down skittles are stood up exactly where they landed.
- Skittles are not returned to their original starting formation.
-
Winning the Game
- The game is played to exactly 50 points.
- If a player exceeds 50 points, their score is reset to 25 points for the next round.
- The first player or team to hit exactly 50 wins.
Scoring
There are two ways to score points in Social Scatter:
-
Multiple Skittles Knocked Down
If more than one skittle is knocked down, score 1 point per skittle knocked down. -
Single Skittle Knocked Down
If only one skittle is knocked down, the score for the round is the number printed on that skittle.
Examples
- If skittles #1 and #2 are knocked down together, the player scores 2 points.
- If only skittle #12 is knocked down, the player scores 12 points.
